What Are Patient-Reported Outcomes?

A Patient-Reported Outcome (PRO) is a report of the status of a patient’s health condition or health behavior that comes directly from the patient, without interpretation of the patient’s response by a clinician or anyone else.

Patient-reported outcomes are one of the best ways to use the Cancer Playbook; I was able to quickly refine my FECO regimen so that it works really well.

What is in 5-Star patient-Reported Outcome (PRO)

A 5-star PRO includes a comprehensive collection of data that helps provide a complete picture of the patient’s journey. Each component adds valuable insight:

The foundation of a 5-star PRO starts with a detailed profile survey. This captures essential patient details, such as medical history, diagnosis, symptoms at the time of diagnosis, lifestyle, and treatment goals. By recording the symptoms present at the start of treatment, the survey creates a baseline for comparison throughout the patient’s journey. This baseline is crucial for tracking progress, identifying patterns, and understanding how treatment is improving their quality of life over time.

Weekly surveys provide consistent insights into how the patient is responding to treatment. These surveys not only monitor treatment progress but also document the patient’s current symptoms, side effects, and any changes in their condition. Tracking symptoms on a regular basis helps identify trends, ensures timely interventions when issues arise, and provides a clear picture of the treatment’s effectiveness. This ongoing feedback loop is invaluable for personalizing care and improving outcomes.

A Certificate of Analysis (COA) ensures that the Full Extract Cannabis Oil (FECO) being used meets the highest quality and safety standards. It provides detailed information about cannabinoid content, terpene profiles, and the absence of harmful contaminants. By including a COA, patients and caregivers can trust that the product is consistent and safe, reinforcing confidence in its use as part of their treatment plan.

Medical documents are an essential component of a complete PRO. These include physician reports, diagnostic test results, imaging studies, and treatment plans. This documentation provides context for the reported outcomes and supports research into the question of whether cannabis oil can cure cancer.

Photos are an impactful way to document progress, particularly for conditions with visible symptoms. Images can track changes in skin lesions, tumor size, or other physical markers over time. By providing visual evidence, photos complement the data collected in surveys and strengthen the research into the effects of cannabis oil.

An increased quality of life report highlights how treatment has improved the patient’s daily experiences. This includes improvements in energy levels, mental health, ability to manage everyday tasks, and overall well-being. These reports not only document personal progress but also contribute to evaluating whether cannabis oil can cure cancer.

An interview allows the patient to share their story in their own words, bringing a human perspective to the data. Patients can describe their experiences, how their symptoms have evolved, and what changes they’ve noticed in their condition.

Example of a 5-Star Patient-Reported Outcomes

Name: Dave Evans
Age: 66
Gender: Male
Location: Jacksonville, FL
Cancer Type: Lymphoma
Official Diagnosis: Double-hit Large Diffuse B-cell Lymphoma
Date of Diagnosis: March 2022

Patient’s condition before cannabis use:
I was living a normal, active life. I have always exercised regularly and gotten annual physical checks. There was zero indication of any issue until my kidneys fully shut down as a result of lymphoma-related blood protein.

Medication being taken before cannabis use:
Throughout my life, other than a multivitamin no medications; Since my lymphoma diagnosis, my chemo regimen is R-EPOCH plus standard antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal. This continued until I achieved complete remission: I am now following a maintenance FECO plan.

Patient’s condition after using cannabis:
I followed a dose-adjusted R-EPOCH regimen, and then added medically prescribed cannabis (FECO) to further boost efficacy as well as to aid with sleep and appetite. As a result, I was able to eat, sleep, and maintain weight, ultimately achieving full remission.

Cannabis medicine details:
Dosing the medicine: ½ rice grain, sub-lingual.

How has cannabis changed your life?
Adding FECO to my regimen has improved my attitude, my appetite, and my sleep, all of which contribute positively to my ability to fight this disease.

My Story
I was auto racing one weekend with my son running between pit lane and the shop when I noticed that I was unexpectedly unable to urinate. I saw a doctor the next day, and it was quickly recognized that I was in immediate danger–Stage 4 Acute Renal Failure–and that there was a non-obvious underlying cause. With the benefit of a scan and biopsy, it was confirmed that I have “Double-hit” lymphoma: Double-hit Large Diffuse B-cell Lymphoma. I completed treatment at Mayo in Jacksonville.

My treatment included six rounds of dose-adjusted R-EPOCH chemo and 3 additional rounds (sequential) of Methotrexate, all of which was administered over the course of about one year. Since remission, I have been lymphoma-free.
