Efficiently Using FECO: A Guide to Dosage and More

By Justin Kander

FECO, also known as full-extract cannabis oil, is a potent cannabinoid product that can be intimidating to use at first. However, with the following guide, you can learn how to use FECO accurately and efficiently.

What is FECO?

FECO is a concentrated cannabis product that contains high levels of cannabinoids like THC and CBD, as well as terpenes, which enhance their therapeutic effects. FECO is unique because of its high concentration of the dominant cannabinoid. For example, if a FECO product has 70% THC, that means there are 700mg THC per gram (mg/g) – dispensing 1 gram will deliver 700mg THC. FECO is a thick, dark, sticky substance that comes in oral syringes.

FECO Dosing Formula

To dose FECO accurately, use the following formula:

Target Dose / Concentration of Medicine = Volume Delivered

For example, if you want to give a target dose of 100mg THC, and your FECO product is 700mg/g THC, then – 100mg / 700mg/g = .143g FECO. Giving .143g of 700mg/g FECO will achieve the target dose of 100mg THC.

How to Dose FECO

To dose FECO accurately, you need a scale that can weigh precisely to 0.001g (down to the milligram). FECO is so sticky that it can’t be put directly on a scale. Therefore, first, put a piece of food or edible rice paper on the scale and use the TARE function to account for the weight of the food or rice paper. Then, slowly squeeze FECO onto the substance until the scale reads the weight you need. Over time, you will get a sense of how much FECO equates to your target dose, and can visually estimate the doses if desired. A rice grain amount of FECO weighs about 0.05g. Therefore, multiplying 0.05g by the Concentration will give you the dose per rice grain.

Diluting FECO into a Carrier Oil

To make FECO easier to use, dilute it into a carrier oil, such as olive, coconut, or salmon oil. The oil can be heated up in a small saucepan until warm, poured into a bottle, and then the FECO can be squeezed into the bottle and shaken after putting on the bottle cap. The cap should then be opened to allow the solution to cool down. To know the concentration of the resulting oil, divide the number of milligrams in the FECO by the number of milliliters of carrier oil.

In summary, using the right formula and tools, you can dose FECO accurately down to the milligram. This method is empowering as it allows you to achieve accurate target doses regardless of how concentrated your particular product is.
