Angela Ardolino’s dog Nina is a testament to the power of natural therapy for extending life even in a severe case. Her Doberman had been diagnosed with osteosarcoma, one of the most difficult-to-treat cancers that often proves fatal in 4 months. Ardolino did not let that prognosis hold her back, and she began treating her then 8-year-old dog with several natural modalities. The primary treatments were full-spectrum CBD oil, THC delivered via FECO, mushrooms, some other herbs, and a raw diet. This allowed Nina to survive 22 months without any conventional modalities. At this point, she underwent amputation surgery to remove the leg with the tumor. Some other treatments, like vitamins, antibiotics, liver cleanse, and a fecal transplant were used after amputation to help with recovery.
Also importantly, at the time of surgery, there was no metastasis observed. Nina’s veterinarian, Dr. Sarah Urban, stated, “It’s remarkable that Nina’s tumor has stayed localized to her wrist and still hasn’t spread after 22 months, I’ve never seen anything like this and it helps me understand the power of cannabis, and adaptogens.”
Ultimately, while Nina only lasted 4 more months after amputation, she lived way beyond her prognosis and “broke records” for survival.
The science is starting to catch up to what is being reported by patients. A 2022 article in the scientific journal American Journal of Translational Research found that CBD could kill osteosarcoma cells and suppress their migration, which may explain how it could prevent metastasis. The study also tested CBD on mice, and found it limited osteosarcoma tumor growth.
